Computers for Homeland Security

Although the Department of Homeland Security might seemingly not have to deal with the harshest of conditions required for battle ready computers, Computers for Homeland Security still very much require the same  rugged standards as that of military computers. When you are always on the move there is an increased risk of damage associated with shocks and constant vibration, not to mention knocks, bumps, and drops.

These type of rugged mobile computers are especially designed to resist damage from the impacts of the job at hand. So both uses face conditions that are known to be extremely risky and hostile. This means Computers for Homeland Security need to be the type of mobile computers that are manufactured to withstand amazing extremes in the field. The common risks of drops and water damage cannot be a concern for anyone operating in extremely hazardous conditions.

Rugged notebooks and rugged laptops can absorb shock to avoid damage, and also are operational in wet environments with no risk of damage to the computing hardware and the important data stored on Computers for Homeland Security.

Rugged Computer History

By all accounts, it can be reasonably argued that the rugged computer niche began with the development of mobile notebook computers designed for tough conditions by Panasonic over the last two decades, resulting in the Toughbook brand name.

Consumers have a need for laptop computers manufactured to withstand the knocks and bumps that are bound to happen when transporting a portable computer. Such computers also needed to be developed that have the power to run no matter the circumstances or the environment.

Now many more rugged computers are being built to compete with the original Panasonic Toughbook computer line of products. Most of these ruggedized, semi rugged, and fully rugged computers meet or exceed various certifications, such as the US DOD MIL SPEC 810F military standards.
These models often feature spill-proof LCD monitors and keyboards, magnesium cases, and protected hard drives and ports among other features. These rugged computers provide more computer protection, but still allow for the ease-of-use associated with portable computing.

RuffPC.com offers a line of rugged computers designed to meet these specifications that can be reviewed at the Ruff PC website, and you can read more about rugged computers in general at the official Ruff PC Computer Blog. These computers can also be used in the forestry and conservation fields for obvious reasons.

Tips For An Easy Attic Insulation Through Foam Insulation

by Edward Nave

Attic insulation can be very simple to do yourself if you know what you are doing. First of all know what type of insulation is best for your attic. Either slabs of insulation called batts or rolls of insulation. Loose fill is another type but it has to be installed by a professional as the process is more complicated that the others.

Foam insulation is one of the most effective forms of insulation, a bit more expensive than the rest, but also one of the longest lasting and higher in R-value than the other insulation methods. It is recommended that foam insulation must be installed by a professional, as the procedure can be quite difficult for someone new to this procedure.

Foam insulation comes in two types. The first is open celled foam, foam that is less compressed and holds a lot of air bubbles, because of this it can be removed very simply removed. The second is closed cell foams, foam that is very dense and compressed and hardly holds any air at all, this foam is a lot harder and is higher in R value and can’t be removed easily.

Installing attic insulation is a very simple job that one person can complete in the space of a weekend if fitted in a proper manner. Start at one end of the attic, making sure you put weight onto open joists. Start placing the batts or unroll the insulation between the joists. Butt down the rolls making sure not to butt them very hard as not to damage the insulation, the same is done with the batts. Use the utility knife to cut away remaining fibers and any areas that touch electrical items as not to cause a fire.

Before beginning the installation of your attic insulation, make sure you have all of the utilities needed. Long gloves, respirator, knife, goggles or glasses, and long sleeved clothes and pants are some of the necessary utilities to prevent irritation that the fiberglass can cause.

Reduce Your Expenses with Attic Insulation

by Edward Nave

To save money with DIY attic insulation, it is recommended to do a lot of research before starting the installation. What type of insulation is best for your attic, how much money can you spend, do you live in a very cold area or a warm area? All these questions should be answered before you start with the insulation.

There are two different insulation types that are perfect for people who want to install the insulation themselves. The first are rolls of insulation that simply roll over the area that you want insulated, the second are batts, normally sold in rectangular packs and are also simple to install. Another form of insulation is insulation foam called loose fit. Harder to install and also more expensive because it lasts a lot longer than the others.

By fitting the insulation yourself, you do save a lot of money than if you were paying for a professional installer. But before trying to install your insulation, read up on how it is done properly, this way you will not have to tear it all up and start over again, which will cost you more at the end of the day!

Installing the insulation is not a complicated process and can be completed in just a few days if done in the correct manner. If you decide to install foam then the process is a little bit longer as the foam is not as easy to fit and should be done by a professional to be fitted properly.

It is very simple to save money on attic insulation once you have researched on how it is done and you have the necessary utilities to carry out the job as easy as possible. Once the insulation is fitted, even if you do spend more than intended, you will find that your bills are not as high as before, and if they are the insulation either is too thin or poorly installed.

How To Guide to Insulating the Attic

by Edward Nave

This is a step by step guide for an easy way to install attic insulation in your home. There are two types of insulation for attics, the first being very hard to install and must be done by a professional installer and is called loose fill. For a simple do it yourself installation of your attic insulation it is recommended to use the blanket form, which can be sold in rolls or batts.

Rolls of insulation normally come in all different sizes between sixteen and twenty four inches and are sized to fit in between joists and studs. Batts are sold in flat packs and are normally about eight feet long in size. Both are made up by either fiberglass or mineral fibers.

Before buying your insulation it is highly recommended to measure your attic and the buy a little bit more than needed just in case, unopened packs can always be sent back to the shop. By measuring before you can also see what type of insulation is better for your attic space. Buying a cover for your insulation will stop any damage or condensation to your insulation. Brown Kraft paper or fire-retardant foils are two very good choices.

The installation itself is a very simple process that can be fully completed in just a few days if done effectively and properly. Always start at one side of the attic and weigh down the joists, if they are open, with either a heavy object or your feet. Place or unroll the insulation slabs making sure they are in the joists. Knock down the ends with care so that the insulation slab will not split. Cut away any edges that overlap, using the utility knife. Make sure any wires are uncovered so that they will not short circuit in the future.

Remember to have all the necessary utilities before you start work on installing the insulation. These utilities include gloves, filter mask, utility knife, measuring tape, glasses and long sleeve shirts and trousers to avoid any irritation the insulation may cause.

Flush Your Diapers

by Haylee Landford

As one of many new moms, much can be learned about what a new baby needs. A lot of effort goes into creatures that don’t eat on their own, move around on their own, or use the bathroom on their own. I was astounded to find myself changing his diaper at least eight to ten times a day. The only problem that I have found is not with the wiping of a small bum, but with adding to a huge waste issue.

One of life’s ironies is that the smallest and newest creatures on earth seem to product the most waste material. I came to understand that the bags of diapers I threw out, were only part of the fifty million that pile up in the garbage everyday. What is sadder is that these mounds of soiled diapers will cover acres of our beautiful land for about five hundred years before they decompose.

What is exciting in these times, is that people see these problems and conjure up brilliant solutions. I am not claiming myself to be one of these people, but I do know of many valuable ideas on the market today. I feel, however, that I will be of slight use to society by helping to promote these ideas to other consumers.

The most exciting product on the market today is naturally referred to as “gDiapers.” Like we have already established, my opinion means very little, but the famous mothers like Julia Roberts have preferred this product for their little ones. An ingenious family from Australia have struck gold, or should I say green, with this trendy, sleek, and yet flush-able diaper.

The product is a stylish diaper that you can order in any color or print you could think of, with a removable pad that you replace inside of it. It snaps in very simply and then when it’s time to change, you can remove the pad, and flush it! The outside diaper can also be washed. This product is far superior to any cloth diaper or diaper alternative that I’ve seen.

And don’t think that just because famous celebrities are turning to gDiapers, that they are out of your league. They are more than affordable. They offer a special starter package on their website, only $26.99, that includes two outer diaper coverings with a small pack of flush-able refills. The diaper coverings by themselves are priced from $15.99 to $18.99 with the refills coming in large packages of 128 for $52. That will end up costing you about 40 cents per diaper change.

This may seem more expensive than the approximate 27 cents you pay for Pampers Swaddlers, 22 cents per diaper for Huggies Snug and Dry, or only 15 cents per diaper of Luvs Premium. But remember that the green you will saving instead is much more substantial than anything you can fit into your wallet. For that reason alone, the 40 cents compared to 20 something cents seems inconsequential.

Another proven company is the Seventh Generation that specialized in green, environmentally safe products of many kinds. Their diapers in particular are chlorine free, and biodegradable. This product along with the gDiapers are fully explained and available on their websites that will do them much more justice than I can. The land of our country will be much more worth having when we take care to prevent even our cutest little bums from polluting it.
